Chapter 50:

When Caden left, Alicia felt a subtle chill run through her.
It was a feeling he recognized well.
In the past, whenever they argued and she gave him a disdainful look, he would respond in kind.
He looked at her with contempt.
She felt disdain for the stupidity she perceived.
Moments later, Joshua approached her.
He was as arrogant as ever.
It had been stsince their last meeting and he seemed to have developed an even greater air of
superiority.
He looked at her with contempt, as if he considered himself her savior.
Alice felt a wave of revulsion. She quickly picked up the first aid kit and handed it back to the officer.
Joshua said, “Alice, lettake you home.”
She replied firmly: "No need."
As she walked out of the police station, Joshua walked beside her.
Not far away, the group of drunks from earlier, who had been fined, loitered, watching her with predatory eyes.
Joshua's tone turned icy. “They just wanted to make fun of you. Why did you have to call the police? You didn’t
give them any other choice.”
Alice stopped dead.
He clenched his fists tightly.
Joshua laughed. “Are you scared? “I can give you a hand.”
Alice stared at him.
Anger and disgust were unmistakable in his eyes.
However, the darkness prevented him from seeing him.
She challenged him: “Why do you want to pushto the limit and then offerhelp, Joshua? What do you
want?”
Joshua forced a smile.

me?”
Alice replied, “Aren't you and Lilliana in this together?” Wasn't he the one who had laid the groundwork for
Lilliana's attack? Weren't they the ones who were spreading the damaging rumors and insults?
Joshua took her hand. “Alice, let's discuss this in the...”
The moment he touched her, a wave of goosebumps spread across her skin, and she shook him hard.
Joshua squeezed tighter.
Alice was irritable and nervous, which she seemed to love. “If | go away, those drunks might take you to a
remote area and assault you. Aren't you afraid?”
Alice breathed raggedly.
Joshua lowered his voice, making it more menacing. “I cexpressly to get you out of this situation. If you
refuse to cwith me, | have other ways to force you.”
He pointed at the drunks and added menacingly: "You've already been with someone. What does it matter if you
have a few more partners?"
Alice's face turned white and she staggered.
Nausea took hold of her, threatening to make her vomit. Joshua, triumphant, hugged the dazed Alicia.
His voice was hoarse. “Joshua, you have everything. Why can’t you just letgo?”
Joshua studied her pale features.
“You were the one who provokedin the first place,” he retorts. “You still have feelings forand want to
compete with Lilliana for my attention. There were more constructive ways to handle this, but you chose to
sabotage her future.” He reached out to play with her hair. “Do you have any idea how much it costto clean
up that mess? “You should have made amends long ago.”
Alicia felt a wave of nausea wash over her.
Did she really still have feelings for him?
What a ridiculous idea.
The weight of reality and mounting hatred finally broke her composure. Joshua guided her toward the car.
She didn't resist.
Alice pressed her lips together, bowed her head, and remained silent, her expression tense.
It seemed like he had given up.
Joshua hadn't anticipated it being this simple, but again, it made sense.
After all, deep down, she still loved him.
Their previous estrangement had been nothing more than a facade.
| have buckled her in. “My father has left the hospital and is recovering at the Yates mansion. | will take you there
to stay for a while. Your safety will be guaranteed and you will be able to help take care of him.”
Alice squeezed hard. After a brief pause, she replied: "I'll let you know my decision tomorrow."
Joshua smiled, clearly pleased. “Okay.”
Alice leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes.
Joshua studied his profile and asked, “What was Caden doing at the police station? “Do you two get along?”
Alice replied indifferently, “Ask him.”
Joshua's expression soured.
Ever since she found out that all the money she had invested in various companies had ended up benefiting
Caden, her resentment towards him had only intensified.
| didn't want anything to do with Caden.
| turned the ignition and started the car.
"Keep your distance from him."
In a nearby black car, Caden looked away and stubbed out his cigarette. “Drive,” Hank ordered.

Hank preferred to remain silent, finding himself at a loss for words.
Despite the situation, Alicia and Caden were not romantically involved.
His intention had been to facilitate Ciara's wishes.
But relationships could not be manufactured.

Caden's tone was distant. "No, we're heading to the office."

Caden briefly closed his eyes, irritation evident. “I can catch up on sleep at the office,” he replied with anxiety.
Hank cleared his throat, choosing not to press further. Soon, strange noises began to be heard in the backseat.
At first, Hank wondered if he was imagining it, so he concentrated hard.
Once he clearly identified the source, he turned around in disbelief. “Mr. Ward, what the hell are you doing?”
Caden didn't bother to lift his head. "Just watching porn."
Hank was speechless.
She thought to herself, “I know you're watching porn, but do you really have to be so cold-blooded when I ask
you questions?”
Caden remained focused on the screen.
He tried to immerse himself in the movie, but as twent on, irritation began to peek in.
