He's Such A Faker "Hey man." Bryce's voice filtered from behind her as he cto greet Max at the door and Christina shifted from the door to the side when they shook hands and made her way back to the dinner table without uttering another word. What could she possibly say anyways? That his friend was the one who had assaulted her at the airport. He had made rude and nasty advances at her? Maybe she should just go ahead and tell Bryce that his friend continuously made a pass at her and offered himself up for tasting if she was interested in joining him on his bed. That would be quite a story to share with them over dinner wouldn't it? Somehow, She couldn't stop thinking about how Bryce was friends with the type of man and the fact that her sister calls him family. Does Hera know about him or was she oblivious to the truth? The more she gave it sthought, the more anxious it made her. "Christina are you okay?" Hera had asked when she noticed how quiet she had become. Usually, she would've been asking a lot of questions by now but she hasn't said more that three statements.
"I'm fine sister." She smiled back at her. "I'm just trying to get used to everything that's all." Yeah, she was still trying to get used to seeing this so called Max at their house and why he was friends with her sister and brother in-law despite his character.
She was supposed to leavs everything over at the airport. All she wanted, was to forget that he ever existed or that she cin contact with him at one point in her life but who was she kidding? The image of him in the bathroom with that staff was imprinted in her mind and she couldn't shake it off especially now that he was in front of her.
Dinner was served and everyone gathered at the dinner table. Max sat opposite from her at the table and after sharing the grace, they all dug into their plates.

Why does he sound so genuine? Gosh he's such a faker. She thought to herself. Maybe, he was this good in making everyone around him believe that he was skind of saint. If she hadn't spent the last few hours with him, she would've thought otherwise as well. He's so good at pretending.
She lifted her eyes up from her plate and they both locked eyes momentarily before she looked away. This dinner was beginning to get awkward now.
"You don't have to thankMax. You're welcto dinner at the house anytand you know that." Hera answered with a smile. Her words were enough proof that Hera doesn't really know about this man as well as she thought she did.
"Max, you've met Christina right?" Bryce asked him and she looked up to see him staring at her, his eyes devoid of any emotion. "My sister in-law? She's the one i told you i had to pick up from the airport earlier today?" Christina waited to hear what he would say to that statement but he only stayed quiet and for sreason, she definitely knew why. He didn't want to give himself away.
"I'm not sure you'd recognize her. The last tshe cto L.A was during our wedding ceremony which was almost a year ago and I'm not sure you both were properly acquainted then." Bryce added with a grin. "She'll be going to college here and we'll be responsible for her so she'll be staying with us now." "I thought as much." He blurted out. "It's great to have you over here Christina. Glad to make your acquaintance." "I won't say that the feeling is mutual though." She mumbled under her breath and continued with her food He was totally playing them and what's that disgusting behavior of acting all innocent like he hadn't accused her of being a whore and trying to befriend her, just so that she could sleep with him.
"Max is a very good friend of ours Christina. He's actually my best friend." Bryce told her. "He's also family and you can trust him like you trustbecause just like me, he wouldn't let anything happen to you no matter what." "That's good to know big brother." She conceded to his words even though she doesn't actually believe it. The person she had encountered today was not someone she would trust anything of hers to.
If only Bryce knew what he was hiding or what he had done but how can she tell him? She doesn't want to be the one to ruin their friendship they've built for years. Bryce trusts him a lot and so does Hera. Gosh, she hated him so much. He goes against everything she believed in and there's no way she'd condone someone like him especially after his rude behavior today.
"Christina, are you okay?" Hera touched her arm and she gave her a wry smile. She wasn't particularly feeling this dinner anymore but her sister had gone all out to prepare all this to make her feel welcso she just had to endure and sit through it so that she doesn't hurt her feelings.
"I'm fine sister." She assured her. "I'm just feeling pretty overwhelmed right now but I'll be alright." Hera squeezed her hands affectionately and continued with her food. Right there on the dinner table, Christina noticed him stealing glances at her but she made sure to ignore his gaze every time.
"I don't see Mariam anywhere though." Max pointed out of the blue. Christina knew who Mariam was. She was Bryce's housekeeper and they had also met once. She had wanted to ask her sister about it when she didn't see her at hbut it completely skipped her mind. "She went on a family visit but she'll be back in a couple of days though." Bryce answered and the resumed talking about other things.

Dinner finished a while later and after helping Hera clear out the tables, she excused herself and/ If and made her towards her bedroom to use the m bathroom. Bryce and Max were engrossed in their conversation to notice her absence in the room. When she was finished, she made her way outside her bedroom but just before she could take the stairs that led down the kitchen, she bumped into Max at the hallway
The first thought that cto her mind was to ignore him and walk away but before she could do that, he cornered her, completely blocking her path with his huge frame. She looked up to meet his piercing gaze and she found herself staring at him a little longer than intended.
"You're blocking my path." She finally mustered up enough confidence to ough.
say "What is it that you want this taround, Sir?" She asked as she waited expectantly for what he had to say.
